1:6 Pears - Quicktorial by thinkpastel 1:6 Pears - Quicktorial by thinkpastel
I wanted to make something for #semi-sweeties's May's challenge (Fancy Fruits) - I'm working on a whole fruits basket (WIPs here and here)- but since I'm afraid I won't finish it in time, here's a little.. uhm, appetizer? :D

:bulletpink: A quick tutorial showing how I make 1:6 pears! :bulletpink:

This is my second attempt at making a video tutorial :giggle: and please forgive the bad quality, I shot this on an awfully windy day :ashamed:

Wow, I never thought of making pears like that! Usually I use pastels.

Those pears look really realistic.

Thank you for making such an awesome tutorial. :la:

Thank you and you're welcome!
I used to use chalks and pastels as well; lately I've been using acrylic paints more and more. I feel like I have more 'control' over the results, if I paint on hardened clay as I don't have to worry about squeezing/deforming it :D
I also think you can achieve a lot more 'textures' using paint and brushes/sponges. Chalks, however, are much better for 'soft' shadings - like for bread etc :giggle:

I love the 'sponge effect'! I was afraid it didn't really show in the video (again, bad quality :ashamed: ) but hopefully you can tell from the photos. It adds a nice touch I think :giggle:

Yep I can see it from the photo,
and I like the texture! :D
I guess videos are very hard to take well focused, isn't it? :?

I don't know, maybe I'm just really bad at videography (plus, I'm using a cheap compact camera to shot videos - but eh, a bad workman always blames his tools, right?) :D
